●五色之椿と仮名手本忠臣蔵にでてくる天川屋儀兵衛の墓所があるのは京都市北区大将軍にある地蔵院で通称椿寺と呼ばれ現存する。赤穂義士の物語では天野屋利兵衛とされる天川屋儀兵衛だが、茂兵衛となっている、久武の間違いか翻刻の間違いかはわからない。この日は随分と遠出をしている。帰国が近いので名所見物に励んでいるというところか。紅葉の綺麗な秋でなかったのが残念。
二月九日 朝立晴夕曇寒し
も無之候間、早々退出也、麦飯いたさせ候間、種城・有七・中村
源吾・猿渡勘兵衛・堀剛十郎参候様申置、八ッ時分より参候間相
振舞、夫より列立歩行いたし、四条・三条辺通行いたし、帰りに
又々旅宿列立、ゆるゆる相咄候也
二月九日 朝立晴夕曇寒し
同 十日 朝立晴夕方より・雨頻ニ降ル
行、八ッ時分より豚飯いたさせ候間、種子城・有七・鎌孝・中村
源・堀剛・猿渡勘兵衛参様申置被参候、尤ヒル手当申付候得共、
無之由也、皆々手当ゆるゆる相咄候、処今日ハ有七より藤井・
村山其外岡崎辺江遊歩之致約束置候処、不相閉目由ニて近せん方
江重之物手当有之、此方江致持参候様申付候ハ近せん亭主子供
両人召列参候間、ゆるゆる深更迄相咄候、尤舞などいたさせ候
也、
広樹より野村宗七より之書状致持参候由ニて小松家より被相廻候
とて到来、誠ニ遺憾之次第也、

●「近せん」というのは料理屋のようで、京都には今も「近又」という料亭がある。「せん」は千本通の千か。ユニオン号の買い付けを薩長間で周旋した土佐の上杉宗次郎（近藤長次郎）の訃報が記録されている。知らせは陸奥陽之助（陸奥宗光）と野村宗七から小松帯刀のもとへ来たようである。「小松家抱え」というのを小松帯刀が面倒を見ているとした。ここでわざわざこう書いているということは久武は少なくともこの時点で陸奥らのいわゆる「社中」を薩摩藩士とは見ておらず、小松が私的に面倒を見ている一団と考えている。

●前日に報告があった近藤長次郎の事件について、久武は小松のところへわざわざ出向いて詳しく聞いている。前回の記事で久武は薩摩藩の第一次留学生、長澤鼎の縁者の訪問をうけたり、翌月に出発する第二次留学生に木藤市助を決定したりしている。深く留学生事務に関わっていたと思われる。近藤の切腹は、彼の抜け駆け的な英国留学の企てが咎められた結果というのが通説であるが、よくわからないところもある。しかし、木藤の件でもわかるようにこの時期に薩摩藩の二次留学生の計画と人選が行われていたことは間違いない。町田明広氏は近著『新説 坂本龍馬』（2019年 インターナショナル新書）で近藤が薩摩藩留学生として予定されていたと言及しているが、たしかに事務に携わっていただろう久武が、ここで大きく関心を示している点から、なにがしかのリンクをしていた可能性がある。しかし、久武は陸奥を薩摩藩士とは認識しておらず、その仲間であった近藤もそうであるならば、薩摩藩留学生として選ばれる条件はなかったのではないだろうか。ただし、近藤が薩摩藩留学生派遣の機会をとらえて、ともに日本を離れることを希望していた可能性は高い。

●今の荒神橋は御幸橋と当時は呼ばれ、鴨東に展開した諸藩の抱屋敷から洛中への通路として計画され、西本願寺が勤皇奉仕として建設にあたったものである。薩摩藩調練が行われていた岡崎屋敷も鴨東である（参考：原田良子「薩長同盟締結地『御花畑』発見とその後の研究成果」『地名研究』16号 京都地名研究会 2018年）。この二月から工事がはじまったばかりであった。鴨川の土砂を浚える作業を「砂持ち」久武は「土持」と書いているが同じ意味だろう。この浚えた土砂は社寺の境内に寄進されることで、都市祝祭化された。異形の粧いとあるのはまさに祝祭化された工事の様子をあらわしている。安政年間の洪水対策の浚えの時の様子を描いた絵馬が上御霊社にのこされているようだ。（参考：鈴木栄樹「幕末の鴨川水害と鴨川浚計画」（『京都市政史編さん通信』41号 2011年）

●三井文庫に所蔵されている明治初年の鹿児島藩京都藩邸絵図にＬ字型の屋敷敷地の烏丸通側の北境に「相国寺藪地」との記載が見え、その横に「板蔵」との表記がある建物が描かれている。土蔵を移築するのは難しいので、この記事にでてくる蔵はこの「板蔵」を差している可能性がある。何を所蔵するための蔵なのであろうか。
